Hi,

For some reason, I'm unable to share one PC with the Homegroup. I can actually join the Homegroup and see the rest of the PCs, it's just that I can't share the PC itself. The problem becomes obvious when I try to check the libraries that I want to share in the Homegroup settings: I might check e.g. "Documents" but when I save an re-open the dialog, "Documents" is again unchecked. In case you were curious: 'normal' network file sharing works fine...

Any ideas?

I'm assuming all your PC's are Win7 because homegroups are specific to this OS and for mixed OS e.g. W7 and XP a different arrangement is necessary.... remember also that not all versions of Win7 support homegroups I believe (please check as I am not certain about this)

All the PCs are using the same version of Windows 7. :P

FYI: Before this problem occured I had another problem with the same PC: when accessing the PC via Homegroup all the libraries were incorrectly shown as empty. In the hope of solving this problem I tried to rejoin it with Homegroup. Unfortunately this left me with the current situation (in which the PC is totally invisible to other PCs).

Hi again, I had a similar problem at first when I was getting all my Win7 systems to see each other and join a common homegroup so they could exchange files. One of them flat refused to join and it kept saying.... "IPv6 has to be enabled to join a homegroup" however in the properties of the wireless adapter IPv6 was enabled - there is a fix I had to use to get it to work that I think I got on this forum.

Does this sound like your problem ?

Well, my problem turns out to a be more 'stupid' than that :P I just found out that I have to do "share with home group" for each library. I'd assumed this is done automatically when adding them to the homegroup but apparantly not...

But in short, problem solved! :)

Yes, your right, you need to tell the homegroup to share folders - no worries, you got it solved...... :D
