Can't turn OFF pagefile

Just built this system w/ 64GB of ram and I certainly don't need a pagefile (virtual memory) system. The OS installation was via an image file (via intel's Data Migration) and I had it turned off on the old system. When the system is set to "system managed", it creates a 64GB pagefile !! And that's on a 111GB (formatted) intel 510SSD. When I chk "No Paging File", and reboot, I get the following message when it comes back up.

"Windows created a temporary paging file on your computer because of a problem that occured with your paging file configuration when you started your computer. The total paging file size for all disk drives may be somewhat larger than the size you specified."

I can set the initial on 16mb initial & max (the minimum) and it works fine. On top of that, it says the "recommended" size for all drives 96652mb. (not good)

Welcome to seven forums.
I find that some programs and games require access to page file even though they don't really use it.
I would set it 200mb initial & max.

Welcome to Seven Forums AngryChief. I would first run the System File Checker

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

It is possible your pagefile is corrupt. You could try deleting the pagefile and letting the system create a new one. You might also try leaving the custom size as you now have it. A small page file is desirable, in the event of a crash memory dumps cannot be created if there is no pagefile at all. A Guy

1st, want to thank the responders.

Just ran sfc /scannow and it doesn't show any errors. What I can't understand is that the only difference between this computer and the one that's now my backup, is the hardware, drivers, and the product key.

Is there anyway to check to see which programs are using or forcing paged memory ? I looked at the resource monitor and I can't see where it differentiates between ram & paged by program.

The whole purpose of getting the 64gb of ram was to keep the system from reading/writing to the disks as much as possible. When I get this solved, I'll set up a 40GB ramdrive that loads on startup and stores on shutdown from an image file. Then I'll re-load all the programs I can on the image file/ramdrive. Speed !! Attached are atto bench marks on my 3 drives. 1st is the intel ssd 510, 2nd is the 6.35TB(formatted) Raid 5, and 3rd is the Ram Drive. I do a lot of video editing/converting and 3D modeling and you can see why the ramdrive is so enticing and why I don't need to be writing to a pagefile.

Computers and how I use them are all just a hobby for me, so please don't get REAL technical. But I have been using and building them since '81 so I can "kinda-sorta" find my way around in them having made just about every mistake possible over the years.

Thanks-

Dont turn off pagefile completely, make a 2 or 4gb min/max fixed size one and call it a day.

There could be a driver on the system that requires paging file backing of it's memory allocations as well, which can cause that message (usually it's only a few MB, and if this is the case, would be why a 16MB paging file would work).
