Can't use ANY new keyboard.

Hey folks. I just made five trips to Futureshop. At first, I was shopping for a wireless keyboard & mouse combo. I went through four of those before I surmised that my computer was having issues with the wireless adapters on all of them (different models). I then turned to a last resort of buying a wired keyboard. Upon connecting the new wired keyboard, I discovered that my Windows is blocking all new devices for some reason. My old keyboard works (sticky from champagne the other night), my mouse works, all my devices connect properly. I have installed, uninstalled, updated, etc, as far as drivers are concerned. I bought a Steelseries Apex Raw. Windows keeps recognizing that the device is plugged in, but has no drivers associated. The name even shows up. I'm a little confused as to how even a USB keyboard could fail to install properly on a Windows system.
Obviously there's an issue with my system, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

When you plug in the USB keyboard . Do you see any yellow exclamation point icon on the USB section or unknown device inside Device Manager .

:ar: To get to Device Manager

Right click on Computer on the Desktop choose Manage . Inside the Computer Management window click on the Device Manager on the left hand side .

:ar: If you don't have the Computer icon on the Desktop

Click on :orb: right click on Computer on the Right hand side choose Manage . Inside the Computer Management window click on the Device Manager on the left hand side .

Yes, and depending on which step I'm at in this process, the error code varies, from code 19 to 10, but always an error.
I've manually installed, automatically installed, I've uninstalled my existing keyboard, I've restarted, etc, etc. I'm honestly a little confused as to how this is failing. It's USB. . .

I got to the point where I'm supposed to manipulate Infacache.1. I'm not able to modify or delete it, nor am I able to apply the "Take Ownership" fix. I'm starting to get rather frustrated with this. Sometimes it recognizes the new keyboard as a keyboard in devices, and sometimes, it just shows up as "Other devices". I'm about to test the keyboard in the BIOS, but to emphasize the point, the keyboard doesn't even light up when it's plugged in.

Okay, so I've rebooted, and I have full control in the bios. It is clearly a Win7 issue. Again though, I can't delete or modify Infcache.1. F*&(&()!!!!!!! ~LOL~
