Hi there.
My mum always told me not to fix things, that are not broke, but i'm stubborn as a donkey after my father and i know my thing.
And here's the problem:
I've uninstalled the older version of Catalysts, ran the cat-uninstaller, rebooted and went on with the brand new and shiny 9.6 version. Analyzing the system went smoothly, and so did the installation. Even too smoothly. The thing is that neither drivers, nor the CCC do install. The only thing present is the "Catalyst Install Manager" and just it. The whole process takes about 30 seconds and skips right to the finishing screen. It does not even detect my video card, which leaves me with a tiny resolution of 1024x768, which is kinda painful, when you have a 24'' display.
Trying to uninstall the "Catalyst Install Manager" gives me a message saying, that "no installed components were found", which obviously is true, as none were installed in the first place.
I've tried installing only the driver with same results. The installers were downloaded at least three times each, so we can cross out any file error. I've tried uninstalling the driver for "standard VGA graphic adapter" (that's how my card is listed in device manager), and then deleting the device, so i could manually choose the driver, but even that does not work. The system keeps telling me, that the driver is updated to the newest version. For the "standard VGA graphic adapter", of course. As ironic as it may seem - he's not lying here. Same applies for an automated online driver search. Trying to choose the driver manually also gives nothing, as i only get Nvidia and Intel cards listed - no ATI present whatsoever.
Also, after uninstalling the driver or deleting the device and restarting the system, it keeps installing standard VGA drivers, returning me to the entry point.
Does anybody have any idea on how to resolve this issue?
The card is a Radeon HD3650 on AGP slot. The rest is a P4 2.66 on a 478 socket and 1gb RAM. Win7 build 7100. The package downloaded
Sorry for any typos, tense or syntactic mistakes - i'm not a native english speaker.
Thanks in advance.
