I have just downloaded the latest version 10.1 of the CCC and Display Drivers for my Radeon HD2600. I am running W7 64 bit. When I installed the drivers and re-boot to complete the installation Windows tells me that there are no ATI display drivers installed and all the icons on screen are much larger due to a default resolution being selected. When checking in device manager I get an error saying the device is not working properly (code 31). On checking Microsoft support it informs me to update the driver to resolve this but when I try to do this I get a message saying the driver is up to date.
I rolled back the driver which got things working again and then downloaded the display driver on its own and installed. Once again after the re-boot I get the message saying no ATI Display Driver is installed. I then uninstalled the driver and tried to install the update but same problem.
I have again rolled back to a previous restore point and all is working but I still cannot get my PC to display via HDMI to Sony Bravia (separate earlier post covering this). I thought the upgrade was going to resolve the problem but appears to make things worse. Any advice much appreciated.

Looking at the supported Graphic Cards list, your card is supported.
Id make sure all my old drivers are removed before installing new ones.
By not removing old ones, there will be a posiblility of a driver clash.

Uninstall ATI via Programs & Features > uninstall a program.

Reboot computer.

Use this tool Driver Cleaner Pro
apologies for those that don't like rapidshare

Unzip the contents to a folder on your hard drive
Install DCPro by running the DCProSetup.
when finished, run the dcpro from the shortcut on the desktop.
you should see a section called Cleaning Selection with a down drop select box.
Under that select box is a tick box "Select multiple cleanig filters" ensure that box is ticked.
now in the Cleaning Filters select ATI, click add button.
select ATI CCC, click add button.
repeat for all ATI.

once all filters are added to the list, click start.
Wait for it to finish.

reboot computer.

Locate to your C:\
Find a folder called Drivers, Hold Shift down and press DEL. click Yes.

Now run the driver that you have downloaded from AMD GAME!

Let me know how you go with this.

Have tried evrything you say.

Ran driver pro but it does not appear to remove the files. There is no Drivers folder either on C: Drive. Driver appears to run OK and refers tp C\Program Files (x86)\ATI directory but when I look in there it only contains a Customer Care folder and an exe file of the same name. When I roll back to Version 8.681 my screen is Ok but my HDMI output is still missing. When I rang driver pro and it told me to re-boot to complete the installation I get a black screen and have to personalise to get my original wallpaper back.

I have ATI Drivers going back far as 9.5.
All of these drivers extract them selves to \ATI\Support\XX-X_Vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu for 64 bit.
\ATI\Support\XX-X_Vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu for 32 bit.

So, I'm sorry for telling you to look for a Drivers folder, where in fact it's an ATI folder. This is in the root of your C:\ or what ever the drive letter is for your System Drive. Unless you have changed this path in this window when installing your ATI drivers.

I have just used driver cleaner pro on my test machine, If ALL ATI filters are in the selected filters list, it will take some time before displaying that the process is complete.

Also, a note..
Once you un-install your ATI drivers from Control panel > Remove a program.
reboot your pc.
Dont let your pc install any drivers, (if that happens)
Just simply click cancel on it.

then follow my previous instructions for Driver Cleaner Pro.

Ensure that you get your ATI drivers from here Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

Far as I know, ATI Drivers 8-6 wont have HDMI support, do you have 9-12 drivers?
If not click here to download them (these are the 64bit drivers), and give them a shot.
