Hi everyone,

I've been looking through dozens of forums etc to find solutions to as why CCC.exe wont run.

My system is a HP G62 notebook pc with an AMD/ATI 4250 Radeon Mobility graphics card (if you want to call it a graphics card) and am running the 13.1 legacy driver (Note. I've tried to install the 13.4 beta driver but it failed for a different reason)

I have recently started attaching a 26" HD TV via HDMI and I am not a fan of the Windows screen resolutions available, so I want adjust it using CCC, which of course wont run, just the loading wheel turning and CCC.exe, CLI.exe and MOM.exe all running in task manager then shutting off.

I have tried many possible solutions.

I have tried the solution found here: Problems with installing Catalyst Control Center - Discussion

I removed the program itself, ensured that the relevant registry was empty, the file locations were empty etc as instructed in numerous places. However, the most common instruction from most sources is to remove the key from the GAC, this key shown in the instructions isn't in my assembly folder? Regardless of whether or not CCC is installed. I was wondering if this may be an issue unique to myself and causing the issue?

I have updated my .NET to 4.5, also worth noting.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Alex

Hi there .. Have you tried the AMD Catalyst Un-install Utility ... If not i would try that and Reinstall 13.1 .. It might be the case that only the Driver from the HP website might Install the Catalyst Utility.

I haven't tried the UnInstall utility, ill try that one now, the HP website only provides an older version of the driver (launched in 2010) because my particular laptop is no longer being manufactured or supported, so drivers aren't being updated on the product page

Give me a few minutes to try the UnInstall utility and I'll report back my results.

Ok, I'm afraid I can't give a definite solution, as I was running the UnInstall Utility, my whole system crashed (as in, the pc itself turned off sort of crashed) and the operating system wouldn't load on startup (I suppose because only half of the drivers were there, the others may have become corrupted because of the crash during uninstall) so I had to restore back to a restore point from yesterday. But bizarrely, CCC now works and I've got the screen resolution on my extended TV screen that I desired without having to change it through CCC in the first place. Very odd indeed.

But the issue is resolved nonetheless I suppose. Thank you for help and quick response anyways maxie :)

Perhaps the restore revived an older ATI graphics driver which works better. Laptop drivers are generally crafted by the manufacturer for their machines and the ones from AMD won't do the job.
There may have been some other change reverted too though.
