I can't find a way to change my default email program from being listed as Outlook. I use Yahoo primarily. For example, when looking at my pictures file in Library, I select one picture to be sent by email. It automatically brings up Outlook, which I don't use. I have looked at "Default Programs" and Yahoo does not appear as a selection to choose. How do I make the change? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can't set it to default to web based email.

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a shot and just didn't have the options shown on the 'hell' site. All that happened is that I now have Messenger installed, and no problem there for me. THEN I read all of the info and at the bottom it says that it doesn't work with Vista, which also means 7 as I found. It was worth a try anyhow. It would sure be nice to find a way to do this.

I did click on the Yattach to see what it would do as it says that it works with Vista and 7. Doing so you end up with affixa.com which has such a program. It might be a succesor to Yattach. Looks like it should do the job but haven't tested it thoroughly. I did send one "email this to a friend" from a website and it got sent without Outlook opening as usual. It allowed me to set only one email program with the 'free' version, which is fine for my use. For 2 pds/year it offers more. I'll report more as I learn more.

I downloaded and installed Affixa. It installed easily, but I was never able to have it operate as I hoped. I went to a picture file that opened in a viewer that offered E-mail as an option. I selected the pic and then E-mail and something transpired and said my picture had been emailed. No asking for an address for the intended email and no appearance of Yahoo. The only trace of the e-mail that I could find showed up in the Draft folder of Yahoo mail(which I had selected as my email provider). I selected that message and attempted to forward it, but clicking Forward did nothing, nor did Reply, for that matter. Other attempts produced the same results so I quit and uninstalled it. So much for that exercise today. I must be missing something somewhere. One of you experts might take a look and see what you discover. It is easy to install and uninstall. www.affixa.com .

Only way i can think of this working out is to add your webmail account to a email program on your computer, and set the email program to default.

And how do you do that? That is all that I want to do, but MS 7, and previous editions, only allow certain choices and none of them are web related. The default, at least in my case and probably many others, is only Outlook and others, but not webmail addresses that are 'out of the family', so-to-speak. I just want to be able to select an email provider other than Outlook to use for my "e mail to" selections. Yahoo and such do not appear in the drop-down to choose. Oh well.

Well that all depends on what Email Program your using,Mozilla Thunderbird im pretty sure will allow almost any web based email account to be added.

P.S When you said MS 7, do you mean Windows 7?

A better way to solve this problem would be, to download & install Yahoo Tool bar. This will make the web based mail (Yahoo! mail) as a default email program in your browser.
I am pretty hopeful that this will work for you.

I don't think Yahoo allows emails to be 'popped' without a premium account.

Thanks for all of the thinking and suggestions! And I did mean Windows 7. I'll give the toolbar a shot and post the results.
