Change where icons are placed

This hardly seems worth creating a thread about, but is it possible to change where new icons are placed on the desktop? If I right-click and create something from the New menu, it appears as the last icon. However, if I extract rars, download files, and programs they get stuck right near the top between other icons.

I am not going to welcome you Jon, you have been part of the family for quite a while giving good help to so many. I hope that I can help you a bit now. You probably know all that I am going to tell you, but here goes.

On my desktop, if I right click, I have the choce of sorting arrangements, date etc. I have nothing checked I place the icon where I want and have no problem with movements etc, even after a boot.

Thanks Richard. I wonder if it's more of a program thing, as the only icons that are placed up there are shortcuts created by programs I install, and sometimes extracted rar files.

If you have nothing checked, in sort by, and the icons are not placed at the bottom, I think that it is related to the program. I really do not have much need to open RAR files. All of my programs and downloads always appear at the end of my Icons, near the bottom. Since, I have not experienced the situation that you describe and have read nothing about it, I really cannot offer anything more. Hope that you find the solution.
