Hello!
Sorry if this has been asked before, just point me to the relevant thread. I recently upgraded an old Intel Celeron socket 478 (yes that old) computer from 512MB RAM to 1.5GB RAM, so I naturally also upgraded from Windows XP to Vista 32-bit and finally to 7 32-bit to make it a little more modern. The graphics card is an nVidia Geforce 440 MX AGP 8x with only Windows XP drivers, so I installed these (XPDM mode) and of course Aero is not working. I thought of a workaround to change the default taskbar color, I downloaded and installed latest Open Shell. I then tried to change the taskbar color from there. It partially worked! With that I mean that the background around the start button and around the notification icons (clock, network etc) was successfully changed to the specified color in Open Shell, but the background on the rest of the taskbar, where open applications icons are, remained the default light blue/gray color! Ridiculous! So it IS possible to change the taskbar color without Aero, but I would appreciate it if you gave me a proper workaround that changes the entire taskbar. A Registry hack? Another customization application? Anything!
Thank you in advance.
PS: Don't tell me to switch to a classic theme and change the 3D buttons color. I prefer the default color in 3D buttons, I want to change only the taskbar, and the windows title background color, if possible. Thanks.
