I have 2 workstations in the same LAN: 1 Windows 7 and 1 XP SP3.
On my Windows 7, I connect a share that resides on my XP workstation.
no problem so far.
But if I copy (or move) a folder with an dash (-) in its name from my Win7 wksta to the share on the XP wksta the foldername changes from dash (-) to an underscore (_).
Not a real problem but nevertheless annoying.
Is there an explenation or a solution?
Thanks in advance.

I am not certain, but I don't think "-" was permitted in filenames in XP, whereas "_" was OK.
Windows 7 appears to be more flexible in allowable characters.

As far as a solution is concerned, it looks like your PC is adjusting it for you. :)

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
As I said it is not a real problem; rather a case of curiosity and you probably right with your answer.
