Checking my updates?

Alright, so I know you can check Windows updates through system & security, and that tells me I have all my updates.

However, ESET nod 32 suddenly decided to tell me when I logged on that I was missing some important updates (ActiveX killbit and some other I don't remember, but some were critical/important). I clicked OK and now it says I have everything, but I didn't see anything install/download and the computer didn't require a restart... (which i find odd if some of them were critical/important).

So I was wondering if there is some other way to check if I have the important updates for W7 other than the built in "Windows update tool in System & Security", just incase that tool is not detecting missing updates for some reason...

P.S. for some reason 6 of the language packs won't install =( they start too and then it stops and says an unknown error occurred. I'm confused about it because all the other language packs installed perfectly...

If you run Belarc Advisor from time to time, it will tell you whether you have all critical updates (just ahead of the list of installed updates). Besides, there is a lot of other useful information in the advisor list.
