Chkdsk will not begin on reboot

I tried 'Scheduling disk check' from both cmd and tools but every time I restart my computer, or turn it off and then on, it will skip the chkdsk and start Windows normally.

I am getting a lot of 'corrupted file' errors and it's suggesting I run a chkdsk, but like I said, I can't figure out a way to do so. It's causing me a big headache.

Any help is much appreciated!

Run Disk Check from System Recovery Options Command Line, ideally from the booted Win7 DVD Repair console or System Repair Disc.

If you have further problems, also boot and run the HD maker's diagnostics/Repair extended CD scan: HD Diagnostic

If it finds bad sectors and can repair them, then run Disk Check again.

You can also run Disk Diagnostics from Hiren's Boot CD, or run both File System check (chkdsk) and HD Surface Scan from free Partition Wizard bootable CD.

Thanks for the speedy response.

I had already run Seatools for DOS and fixed some errors, just need the chkdsk now.

I was looking through everything that came with Hiren's BootCD and couldn't seem to find what utility will run chkdsk, is it Test Hard Disk Drive 1.0? And also didn't see anything on the Partition Wizard bootable CD about a chkdsk utility?

Hirens has HD diagnostics. On PW CD rightclick the partition to select Check File System, which must have a letter.

What about running it from DVD or REpair Disk COmmand Line? Is HD partitioned with lettered partitions?

I ended up finding my Windows 7 Disc and was able to run chkdsk in cmd. I'm not even sure that did the trick, I think it worked after I used the startup repair tool to be honest.

Startup Repair does automate Chkdsk if it's needed, so maybe it had already run it.
