win 7 choppy on new laptop
Having the same problem. Opening and closing browser windows, playing simple games and typing are all lagging. This doesn't happen all the time but it is very inconsistent. Sometimes when I am typing the letters don't show up right away and the same for deleting letters. Playing cards online the cards will move very very slow and choppy.
Now, interestingly enough, my old laptop works beautifully with windows 7. It has a 1.66 duo processor, INTEGRATED graphics GMA950, and 2GB ram.
This new computer has the P8700 2.53 Duo processor, discrete graphics nvidia g 105m card with 256 mb ram, and 4gb ram. TWICE the power yet TWICE as slow.
I have tried everything to help solve it from downloading drivers and updates to adjusting windows themes. Disabling aero DOES help but doesn't solve it. The graphics card has crashed once playing a simple card game and windows explorer continually stops working.
I've never had windows 7 stop working on my old machine. And windows explorer has NEVER stopped working on my old machine. I also haven't changed any settings on my old machine and everything is working fine. Transparency on, aero on, everything that win 7 comes with is on. Why should we have to disable all of this on a machine that has the graphics power to handle win 7???????
Conclusion, my old laptop is made in Japan, it is a Fujitsu and I'm pretty sure they test everything before getting shipped out. I'm not sure what is going on over there in China, but I've noticed this problem in 2 Chinese laptops that I've tried out, the HP mini 311 and the Samsung Q320-34P. People, lets get it together and stop making expensive equipment with faulty and unusable parts. It says something when your old machine with twice as less power works beautifully and perfectly and a new state of the art machine performs worse. With the economy how it is, shouldn't we be promoting working QUALITY equipment?????? I would rather pay twice as much for a smooth working machine than half for a non-smooth heaping pile of crap.
I know that all Fujitsu machines are NOT made in Japan and I really would like to believe that it isn't the problem here.
On second note, can we please list some new computers that actually run win 7 smoothly? That way maybe we can narrow this problem down to some actually specs of the computer. I will start:
Computers that work with Windows 7:
1. Fujitsu A6020 1.66 Duo processor, 2 GB ram, integrated graphics GMA 950
please add to the list because I am in the market to buy something that can actually run windows 7 better than my old system My fujitsu computer needs a lot of repairs such as a new AC port, new inverter, and new cooling fan and it isn't worth to repair it unless i can figure out how to repair it myself which I will probably end up breaking it worse since laptops are like puzzles to take apart.
