Hello,

I have Sony Vaio Model name VPC119GX (Windows 7 Professional-SP 1, 64-bit, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU, 8.00 GB). My browsers (IE and Chrome) have become very, very slow; sometimes, nothing happens. Tests using speakeasy stall about half way through the down load part; I do not get to the upload. This is true on wireless and direct connections. My other two computers (both XP) load pages with no difficultly and pass the speakeasy test. I have tried several things such as restoring the defaults in IE, doing a complete virus scan using McAfee, Running Vaio One Click Care, Advance Care 5, and the following steps:
1) Launch the VAIO Care application ( Press the assist button)
2) Expand Troubleshooting
3) Click on Network & Wireless
4) Click on "Windows Network Diagnostics"
Nothing I have done has helped. I should mention that the rest of the the computer runs well, including email; I have trouble with downloads and Skype calls.
Thanks for your time.
Tom

Hello Sitex, and welcome to Sevenforums!

Here is a link to a very similar problem. Please follow it and report back: http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers...ading-data-every-few-seconds.html#post1664468
If you need more of an explanation, scroll back up in that link, or post back here and ask for one.

Also, windows 7 is amazing right out of the box. The only time it seems to become buggy is in the programs that get installed on the computer. The programs I am talking about are things that try and make it 'faster' and other such things that mess with its normal opperation. Please avoid installing these programs. Your normal web browsers should be fine with any add-ons, as well as an antivirus. Just be careful with what you download that tries to 'help' an already slimed opperating system. I say this just in case you have installed one such program.

Message for DustSailor about slow browser

Hello, and thank you for the prompt response! I read the post you referenced and I will have to think about the solution. McAfee is provided by my former employer--I am retired--and I am a little hesitant to switch. Do you know of another solution? Thanks again for helping.
Tom

sitex,

I can try and offer you help, but they aren't going to do much if the bigMac is actually the culprit here. I have helped 2 people within in the last 2 days remove theMac, and it solved both of their problems. That was only the last 2 days.

Now, you can do this: Optimize Windows 7 and those tutorials may give you a speed boost, depending on which you choose to do. You can try to reset internet explorer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can also delete everything that the reset does not delete (following the tutorial), and if you don't do a reset, use disk cleanup to remove all offline files, temporary internet files, etc. (But don't delete anything you aren't sure of, Some of those files, when deleted, may somewhat slow your computer down, however temporarily), then delete history (including cookies and everything else) so that you get a clean slate completely.

^ :warn: These steps above WILL remove all history and information saved in your internet browser. This is something that you do not have to do, and you can even delete only the things you are comfortable with deleting

Could try this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/129976-hard-disk-space-free-up-recover.html?ltr=H
hope I've helped

Its time for a change: DustSailor and Stve

First, I wish to thank you for taking time to provide quality and informative responses to my post. My internet work has been on hold for some time now and I will be happy to move on.
I have decided to take your advice and use Microsoft Security Essentials. My strategy is to download essentials, disconnect the internet, remove McAfee, install essentials, and then connect to the internet. Does this seem like a reasonable solution?
Thank you again for your time.

Excellent advice

My computer is protected and seems to be working fine. "Thank you" simply does not express my gratitude for the excellent assistance I received on this forum.
With every good wish,
