Earlier this year, we announced that Google Chrome would continue support for Windows XP through the remainder of 2015. At that time, we strongly encouraged users on older, unsupported platforms such as Windows XP to update to a supported, secure operating system. Such older platforms are missing critical security updates and have a greater potential to be infected by viruses and malware.

Today, we’re announcing the end of Chrome’s support for Windows XP, as well as Windows Vista, and Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8, since these platforms are no longer actively supported by Microsoft and Apple. Starting April 2016, Chrome will continue to function on these platforms but will no longer receive updates and security fixes.

If you are still on one of these unsupported platforms, we encourage you to move to a newer operating system to ensure that you continue to receive the latest Chrome versions and features.

I thought Vista was supported by Microsoft until Jan 2017, I know Vista is not used much by many people but it's a bit unfair on anyone who still uses it, I have an old Dell laptop that I use now and again with Vista Home Premium on it and TBH there's nothing wrong with it for basic computer use.

It is, but 3rd party software can choose to drop support whenever they like. The amount of people using vista is pretty low compared to OS like 7. And XP support ended last year. Google probably feels it isn't worth it anymore.

I made my thoughts known on the Ten and Vista forums. No one much cares, but I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Yeah no one cares but Vista is not that bad, it suffered from perception, it was perceived as bad when it came out which it probably was but bad hardware didn't help but with service pack 2 it's very good.

From the Windows 10 Forums:

There's nothing wrong with Vista (if you're of the opinion that it's crap just because the RTM release was bad, then that's being misinformed). I find once SP2 came to be, it's every bit as good as Windows 7. And it runs all of my apps splendidly. I like it visually as well. And it has a good Calendar and Mail app integrated into the OS. So that's why I run it.

I don't like Chrome at all and don't run it. I just believe in promise of performance, and if an OS is to be supported to such and such a date, then application developers should respect that, that's all. But I'm a Pale Moon user.
