Hi,

I recently re-installed Windows 7 on my home computer. I use Google Chrome as my default browser, and before I re-installed 7, I could right click the Chrome icon on my taskbar, and there would be a list of options (new incognito window, or something of this sort). Now, however, there aren't any options.

I tried re-installing Google Chrome, but the options still aren't visible. I have multiple user accounts on this computer, and on another user account, when you right click on Chrome, it brings up a list of options.

How can I fix this?

You could try one of the Chromium win32 snapshots. If you use the zip file you don't need to install. If you have bookmarks synced it may pick them up or it may know enough to get them from the chrome settings folder(s). I've found them to be very stable. Before downloading I look in the change log. If there are a ton of issues to back track to an older build until I find one that seems fairly stable.

Just google Chromium win32 snapshot and you'll get the ftp page.

How can I fix this?

I too had this problem and found this thread while searching for a solution.
As I couldn't find any solutions on-line I thought I should explain the way I got mine to work.

Right-click the start menu
Click "Properties"
Make sure "Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar" is ticked then press "OK"
Open chrome
Navigate to a website
Close chrome

The right-click menu should now have a "Recently closed" section and a "Tasks" section with the 2 options for creating new windows in it.
If you want to get rid of the "Recently closed" section you can turn off "Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar" and the "Tasks" section will stay.

Hopefully this helps anyone else who finds this thread.

I figured it out (for me anyway).

When you install the chrome browser, it automatically puts the pin of it in your taskbar...unpin this and pin either the desktop shortcut, or the main .exe. That was enough and solved it for me.

If this does not work, do what chinu2710 said in combination with what I said and that will fix it.

If you still have trouble (or if you want more step-by-step instructions), please let me know.

chinu,

Thank you, I've been scouring Google for a month now trying to figure out how and why my "most visited" and "recently closed" had suddenly disappeared. And now i remember that i turned that setting off in the start menu properties around that same time. I din't really notice it and I thought it had something to do with settings I changed in my browsing history in chrome. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
