clean command in diskpart, cannot boot laptop now.

i had windows 7 running on my Compaq laptop..but the OS became a mess. many services were missing and registries were faulty..so i decided to reinstall windows ...but normal installation(inserting and running CD) wasn't successful.

i tries cleaning my laptop and removing malware and somehow encountered another problem. i could log in to my laptop as there was no user accounts on log in screen. i tried many solutions but it didn't work( including safe mode, automatic repair and chkdsk)
Fed up off all this i assumed i can just format all my partitions, leave the laptop with no OS and then install it again.

i used the clean command at diskpart and this got worse
NOW I CANNOT BOOT MY LAPTOP
it says
media test failure, check cable
exiting PXE ROM

and then on next page it says
non-system disk or disk error
replace and strike any key when ready

when i insert the installation CD ( which i have used on other laptops already) it still show the same message.

cannot go anywhere from there..no access to command prompt, startup repair, system restore

please help

It sounds like your PC is trying to boot from a network drive as the first choice.
Go into BIOS and set the CD/DVD drive as the first priority for the boot device.
Or, use the one-time boot menu key so you can choose the CD/DVD drive when the PC is starting up.

You say you used "clean" in Diskpart.

If the clean command was issued to the drive containing the C partition, that drive should have been wiped clean and rendered unbootable.

Were you surprised when you then found you couldn't boot the laptop? What did you think the "clean" command would do?

Regarding your later attempt to use the installation disk---are you sure you are booting from the installation disk?

You say you've used this disk on other laptops--which makes me wonder about the origin and provenance of this installation disk.

started the laptop > pressed F9 (boot device menu) > selected optical disk drive
but no use, got the same message again

i had to reinstall windows 7 on another laptop to get rid of viruses, but i didn't have the setup, so i downloaded it from internet and used my original key with it. it is the same setup i am trying to use now

You can get a clean ISO using the Heidoc ISO downloader available here:

The ISO's are downloaded from MS servers.
With the ISO create a new install media and see if that works.

only thing i could find similar to it was "internal network adapter boot", i disabled it, still same result.

also, if my hardware drive doesn't work. what other options do i have ? ca i boot using a pen drive ? is so, which boot device option will i choose ? i simply copied the installation setup into a pen drive, plugged it in, and booted with optical disk drive again.

BTW, if i insert the CD into a working computer, the setup runs successfully

If you download an .iso file you cant just copy files to cd or usb as it wont have the boot files written you need to use dvd writing software then select the file and let it write the dvd this is a good free writing software it show the write file(iso) to disk The Official ImgBurn Website

Select disk n (where n is the letter that was given for your SSD in List disk)
Clean
Create partition primary align=1024
Format fs=ntfs quick
Active (assuming you want to install an OS)
Exit

And if you do make a usb stick installer, do not change anything in the bios, just use the 1 time boot menu key to bring up the boot menu, then choose the usb stick.

But you have to create it properly 1st.
