Solved Clean Install 7 Home Premium Complicated

Want to thank you all in advance Laybackbear , Davidw7, Gregrocker and ignatzat... Apreciate the help. I mostly just like learning and never really have a stable system, Well except for one..... I must say that windows 7 is a lot to learn compared to XP and 8.1 just getting started. I just needed a fresh start so I can get the Asus chipset drivers right. Giving it a go now..

sfmudd78 you are doing fine. Just follow Greg's Tutorial and instructions.

Sometimes slowing down a bit and reading the tutorial again does help.

I will go back to watching.

Ok Created Boot USB device, set up bios for UEFI, Particions were created for GPT.. Windows 7 started to install and about have way though it quit. Used my restore disk to reset to factory install. Maybe the ISO was bad, dont know. I am just going to see if Frys or ASUS will be able to get me a install disk so I can install to UEFI... Or Maybe Ill try it again with the software and not the manuel mode useing diskpart... Thanks for all the help. I am waiting for the mailman to come with my netzero mobile broadband devive.... And cleaning up my OEM install. Running pretty good right now but still want UEFI with secure boot...

This is why I said to use the automated option 1 to let Yumi write the ISO to stick. If you'd work with us it will get installed just like tens of thousands of others, including several who posted since you did who actually cooperated

There is nothing that Fry's can provide you any better than we have, which is the official Win7 ISO. This is the home of Win7.

Download ISO again from Clean Reinstall tutorial and this time write to stick using option one of UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows.

During the booted install delete all partitions to create and format New.

If it fails post back exact error or behavior. You may need settings adjusted in BIOS setup for CSM or Legacy.

clean install success but two win7 on one HD

Hi, first of all want to thank everyone that gave me good advice. So far you guys are batting 1,000.... I have found that persistance and trust is the key to getting the most difficult things done.. . I have backed up my OEM Asus install from Fry's after cleaning it up best i could. I had completly uninstalled AI Suite II and stoped the 3 servises to find out what it really does. Really for this motherboard it just really moniters and sets alarms. I do believe that in all it may have some effect on Intell Speed Step Tech.. but I think the memory hog service causes more harm than good. SO I was able to create a second partician on my one HD.. And made a boot DVD with a win 7 Home Premium and walla i now have a fresh install. I have been playing around and so far my transfer rates form HD to USB3 have gone up from 30 or 60 Mb-s to 100 or 200 Mb-s.. Going the other way from 5 or 6 Mb-s to 30 or 60 Mb-s. I have noticed that my CPU temps are up about 20 Degress F and core voltage around 1 volt instedd of .89..... Seems very stable and not a glitch so far. I am worried that the two particians have acces to each other. Should I go ahead and reinstall fresh right away?? or is it okay to play around a little more. I am hopping to end up with a UEFI GPT partician and HD set to AHCI. Now that I am getting decent perfomance I am pretty happy with the dumbed down ASUS cm6870... The CPU and Memory are performing outstanding and Evan the HD4000 onboard graphics scores really high. The one bottle neck seems to be the stock hard drive. Think of doing a striped raid with a couple of moderatly priced SATA 6 HD'S.. Any suggestions on the Hardrives. Or should I brake out and go for a SSD... I really dont want to dump a ton into this so-so computer. But it is working much better with changes I have made so far. I also heard that gigabyte is sounding out at ASUS for fake technology. I would be much happier if they didnt make it so hard to figure out the truth and get a clean copy of windows...

I would recommend not to use Raid in any fashion.
SSD's are always great. When you are done with this computer you can always remove the SSD and use it again in another computer.

What anti virus have you chosen to use?

So what about having the duel boot with windows seven on two particions on the same hard drive. Is it dangerous??? I can access all the files from each other...

Got it Greg I was looking at that.. The only reason I did a install on another partician is because the first install did not complete and I just wanted to see if it was going to work . First time failed as tried to go UEFI and had not followed the tutorial. So as it worked this time I just thought I whould play with it for a bit and do some things I might not noramly do to test some things I have been wondering about... Now that I see this is a legal stable version of 7 I will do the clean install as the OEM backup image is in at least 3 places now and all date backed up as well. As long as settings are right in BIOS, windows should automaticly partician as GPT. I keep secure boot unloaded till everything is installed and then I can load the three databases and boot into full UEFI with SECUREBOOT, NO COMPATABILITY MODE AT ALL. I get back to you after clean install about chipset drivers and windows update and a few other questions I might have. Appreciate all the help. Oh bye the way,,,, I just scored a really cool Dan Electro Bass from some dude at my storage facility...Yeeeeep

You may need some level of Compat in BIOS to install 7. Let us see all the choices if you have problems.

Yes during install combpatability will be on with UEFI O.S. also enabled. The BIOS is interesting after that. It lets me unload three data bases. Cant think of the names offhand. I can then install and windows will automaticly format in GPT.. At least in 8.1 it does. Hoping the same with 7... Then I can go back Reload the databases, and turn off compatability. There is also away to load the data bases to a usb device or reload from a usb back to the bios. Not sure yet what that is all about...

I'm not sure what you're referring to but before I'd do anything like that I'd read the Manual for the mobo/PC on its Support Downloads webpage. If you'll link the relevant passages back here we can look at it for you because it sounds highly unusual and interesting.
