clean install failure (0x80070570 error) on a lenoveo t410s w ssd

Hi there,

So I have spent the last few days troubleshooting the problem, I have tried most of the solutions I have found online, but still I get the 0x80070570 error at 14% of the install process. I have reformatted the hd prior to trying as well.

some random observations:
I have run hd diagnostics and everything passed
I notice that in the BIOS setup utility that there are 3 SATA HDDs listed though I only have the one 'internal one' and no peripherals
I have downloaded and burned (and burned to USB) the .ISO file about five times with the same result
I haven't tried removing RAM because I only have one chip (4 gb) and I assume I cant have 'no' RAM to proceed

As I am sure you can imagine, it is driving me absolutely crazy.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, even on Christmas Eve!

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup to enable Legacy BIOS if present. Next check BIOS Boot order for an EFI Boot Disk and if present remove it, set DVD drive first to boot, HD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

Thanks Gregrocker for the instructions, but after following them I get the same result. When I get to the instilation i still get the error meesage 'windows cannot install the required files'... with the same error code 0x80070570...

any other ideas?

Sounds like a bad installer. Is this an original Win7 DVD or did you burn it yourself? Start over with a new ISO for your licensed version from the link given in last post, then burn to DVD or write to flash stick using the tool also given.

If DVD fails again, try the flash stick method. If that fails, unplug the DVD drive.

I've tried both dvd and usb boots repeatedly with different downloads of the install disk that I downloaded from the usual links so I don't think its an installer issue.
In your instructions to remove any EFI boot disks, I don't see a way to do that. I have one option to change it but it seems like a universal setting to go from ahci(?) to compatibility. I have the boot order right, but I don't see a way to change any settings of individual drives in the BIOS setup other than the boot order...

It should be such a simple process...

Download only from the official link and burn to a good quality DVD with ImgBurn - CNET Download.com at 4x speed.

Next try writing the same ISO download to stick using How To Use UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive which always works for me if others fail.

If these fail post back the exact error message, wipe the HD again.

So I think I have tried all possible permutations of the instructions given here and elsewhere, and the install still fails, with the 0x80070570 error, but now I get a BSOD when I hit escape out of that error. the message i referenced ntfs.sys, datestamp 4ce792f9... This was from running the install from a USB with the recommended source of the ISO... THe only think I am not sure about is how I have handled the BIOS setup utility (questions on that are in my posts above.

Any more suggestions?

Do you have an EFI BIOS? If so did you try install to UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums before trying to bypass EFI using the steps I gave you earlier?

Have you tested the RAM - Test with Memtest86+? Try reseating the RAM, checking for debris in slot and cleaning the contacts.

Finally try moving the HD to another PC to install plugged in alone, then SysPrep to move HD to another computer before moving back to problem PC.

Win7 PRO 64 reinstall

I was reinstalling Win7 on my daughter's SYX i7 gaming computer. The file corrupt error was occuring at different percentages as the files were expanding. I connected the harddrive to a HP AMD 64 processor and was successful in installing Win7. Ran sysrep and moved the harddrive back to the SYX to complete the setup.

I came cross this problem last week and since then, i did a hell search, so its not the boot disk or the boot flash drive, also its not a memory and its not a hard drive, its mot likely an issue with either motherboard or video card, sound funny right? anyways, i just want to tell you how i over come this problem, the windows i was trying to install is a genuine full version of windows 8.1, i took my drive to a different computer and i used that computer to install windows 8.1 64 bit, then i took the hard drive and put it back on the original computer and it works, more information one of the test that i did when i bought the software from best buy which is 8.1 Full version, it came with 2 disks, 1 32bit and second 64bit, so when of the test i have done, its trying the 32 bit, and it works, but because i need it windows 64 so i had to do the above, if you have more question please post your question, thanks
