"Windows cannot install required items. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installations. Error code: 0x80070017"
I desperately need help with this. I just bought a brand new SSD drive to clean install Windows 7. Even bought a brand new SATA cable to go with it. This error happens during the "unpacking" phase.
Things I think I have ruled out: It is not the SSD. I am getting this error on my HDD as well. It is not the DVD ISO I am using as it is legitimate, downloaded through my university. I have also tried Windows 8 but instead of getting an error it just stalls at the Windows 8 logo screen directly after booting from DVD. I have also tried removing my RAM sticks and only using one during this process. I have used each one and each time still result in the same error. I do not think it is memory failing issue.
I have not ruled out my DVD drive failing however. I have a USB stick I downloaded Windows on. I can't get my computer to boot into it though. I get the error "DSK MGR MISSING" error. I am certain I have downloaded it onto the USB stick correctly. It is an encrypted stick requiring inputting of password before files can be read in Windows. Would this have an affect on its ability to run as a boot device as it is impossible to input the password without already being in Windows?
