I have just done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on my Dell Vostro 1720.
Most things are working (The web cam isn't but I never use it anyway)

Is it necessarily to upgrade the drivers and if so, which drivers should I upgrade?

Dells support site isn't very helpful...

If Windows and/or Windows Update brought you drivers that are working, I would let them alone. If you don't think something is working as expected, look for updated drivers. Typically, on a laptop, if Windows Update brings down the drivers, I leave them alone. On a tower, especially one used for gaming, I always update the video drivers.

Dell Support not helpful?

All your drivers are here: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United Kingdom]

Just select Windows 7 32-bit from the drop-down OS list then enter your service tag.

You can always check in Device Manager to see what is needed.

Ok, if you use Internet Explorer Dells support site works a bit better.
But who is using IE ;-)

Thanks for the answers. I will run without updating the drivers and see if/what doesn't work for a while before doing anything...

Many people are using IE, like myself. Ever since IE7 came out, browser choice has been about personal preference, and not quality. I use Chrome to manage my Google account stuff, and IE for everything else.
