Clean re-install with no discs... possible?

I have a Sony VAIO which came with Win7 pre-loaded, no discs provided.

Experiencing issues, have run SFC / SCANNOW, and then done a "Repair Install" from tutorials on this forum. No improvement.

I have the downloaded ISO from Dell.

Is it possible to do a clean install? The clean install tutorial starts with "boot from Win7 disc..."

I looked for such an option, sorry if it's right here somewhere and I'm blind...

There should be some type of program on your PC tp make the system discs from a reserved partition on the drive. See if you can use that to make your Sony Re-install disc.

If not then you can use the other downloaded ISO to burn a DVD and use your key on the COA sticker located somewhere on your system.

If you write the ISO to a USB, you can boot from the USB too. Use this as your definitive reference - it covers everything you need to do a clean install to your Vaio:

You can boot the DVD from the one time boot menu.

Hiyya Harry hum been there done that ;)

If you get real stuck a factory default is another option mate only you will get all the bloat again and you lose all the data but if you have an image well should ok:)

Key is Alt+F10 on power up or used to be:)

ok, thanks for the tip, Icit... getting it all together right now, may start tonight... just double checking that all my files/data are backed up... trying to find install discs for all the software I want to re-load... deciding what to jettison...

I have a band that played in Gold Coast in 07, Coolum the following year... it was funny both times, the Saturday right around Jan 26, which I had no idea going in... I had to ask, do they always drink like this, party by the thousand in the afternoon, and yell oy oy oy! so much... but the locals clued me in, what the party was all about... went to Byron bay, a great day that was... what I remember of it...

cheers!

Great to hear Harry mate just one last thing if you want to squeeze a litle more speed out of it at the slight expense of the transparent windows frame etc they Brinks tutorial - it's my Bible chapter and verse.

Only takes a few minutes and I am sure you will be pleased with the result anything you change if you don't like it they can all be reversed and it won't cost you a cent well except for the electricity

no worries mates... Pro Tools is a digital audio workstation platform for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, by Avid Technology. It is widely used by professionals throughout the audio industries for recording and editing in music production, film scoring, film and television post production, musical notation and MIDI sequencing. Much of pop music these days is recorded/produced using ProTools, on MUCH larger systems though...

I'm trying to record music demo's. It's the reason this PC exists at all, pretty much. Thanks for the concern though gents, your good intentions are appreciated.
