The problem is I do not know which drivers i need to download (from my other laptop) in order to solve the problem.

after i complete troubleshooting the following problems are found:

Hi there.

Just a few questions to know more about your system;

1. Bought it with a brand? Acer, HP, lenovo, etc. If so, you can actually visit their website with your brand and model and look for the correct drivers to install.

2. If not, will need you to go into device manager, right click each of those devices showing exclamation marks, choose properties, choose the details tab and select hardware ID. Then paste it here on your next reply.

Look for Brand and Model... go to their website and download "Chipset Drivers" (these will give you network access) then the rest you can possibly do an auto install once you can connect to the internet and go back to their site.

I figured out how to get the driver for the internet, now I guess there are a bunch of other drivers that need upgrading. Is there an all in one program out there that can do this for free?

Thanks

I have never heard of a Custom Built Laptop but there is always a first! :D

If you go to Device Manager it will pretty much tell you the name and Model of your Video Card, Audio drivers, and a few others. All you do is go get those straight form the manufacturers... all others you can get through Windows Update and avoid downloading and installing the wrong drivers.

Network controller driver downloaded, installed and works? If so do NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Detect NVIDIA Products this will scan for your nvdia card and install the driver.

Run "windows update" a lot of times untill all updates have been installed. After that post device manager screenshot with "other devices" expanded. Most of the time new drivers will be installed automagically.

No it will not. (see Standard 'VGA Graphics Adapter' in 1st and 4th post ?).

Some laptops were released with 2 graphics card options (intel/ati), 3 wireless card versions (intel/atheros) etc, sharing the same model number so sometimes it's tricky to find proper driver on manufacturer site.
In case of second hand laptop model number may be unreadable or removed (sticker) making things even worse.

Recently I installed Windows 7 on 6 years old Dell laptop, everything was detected and all drivers installed.
In XP era I was using DriverMax and DriverGenius - I know such programs are not recommended but to quickly identify hardware I don't know anything better. Internet connection not needed - as long as you are able to install the program from usb pendrive or CD - it will work (identify and show you name of file to search and download).
