clock and date

How do I out the clock and date on the desktop . they are on the task bar but I want on the desktop its self

I have windows 7 IE

desktop gadgets would do that for you, you would still have the original in system tray but would add one on the desktop in a position of your choosing
Click start type gadgets, there is a basic clock and calendar gadgets available or you can go online to look for different variants

just looked online and MS has removed gadgets but the basic windows ones are still there that will give you as clock and/or calendar

R-click desktop. Gadgets window opens - double click the one you want.

Microsoft claims that Gadgets are insecure and they will no longer support/update them.

Use them at your own risk.

Yep when ie11 was released all built in windows gadgets were removed,
You can download them again and use them,
And yes this works for win-7 too
