Solved Cloned an SSD; new one works, but original doesn't

I don't know what W10 will evolve into going forward, i don't know if anyone does.

Yes well hopefully it does David because Shawn and the admin and crew have put a lot of time and effort into the system one way or another and it must be trying for them in a way that we grizzle about that OS (with I think just cause though) because after all they don't make up the rules and regs that it runs with.

If they did away with that privacy stuff I would have a go but I just do not like knowing my data can be got at - even though in all reality it could be hacked by some "clever" people I suppose. I just think they took that liberty of doing it without making very clear in layman's language beforehand.

The other thing I am not keen on are the way that the features so simple in 7 are quite complicated and or convoluted in 10.

Some folks say the only way to be 100% secure is to disconnect from the internet.

The other thing I am not keen on are the way that the features so simple in 7 are quite complicated and or convoluted in 10.

I can't argue with that opinion, i feel the same way about some of the changes.
For me, so far, some things take more clicks and scrolling to see info in W10 than it does in W7 (or 8.1).

I much prefer the W7 GUI/Display, it's easier for me to read on my old eyes.
To me W10 is so flat and bland, i have a harder time reading things.
The flat look reminds me of OLD OS's.

I'm learning making tweaks and changing some settings can help, but i shouldn't have to do this on a Desktop PC imho.

Agreed but sorta defeats the purpose of booting up eh? unless you just use the Word processing or non net gaming.
For me no email would be like losing the will to live as I use it more than anything and well you need the net

Mind you as you so righty say the flatness and bland semi 8 panel look also is a cause for suicidal thoughts :huh: I have probably said it before but the Linux OS's / distros look increasingly more attractive.

I can't disagree or argue with your opinions and thoughts.
I'm struggling with the right answers for myself.

I do know some of my "family and friends" that I help will buy a new PC with W10 and then call me for help "to fix something".
I ran into that situation with W8.x and Vista when i didn't have those OS's.
I'm better able to help them if i can test things on my own W10 OS before making changes to their PC via TeamViewer.

It would take me a long time (never) to be confident enough with Linux and tell these people "get rid of Windows, let me install Linux for you".

No worries -- it's one of those things that happens, and it's not far afield from my initial query.

I've gone back and forth on the upgrade, but I've decided to stick with 7 because I know it, and it works. Also, as much of a pain it is to keep that data mining crap out of our computers, it's preferable to 10, in which such things can't be shut off.

Yep David my brother in the UK I shipped a fairly new desktop I had upgraded after doing my first build - slapped in a better CPU more RAM GPU etc etc and he has fell for the sales pitch for 10 and so I have sent him a new 500GB SSD and a new 7 OEM ( I have a few spares) and he is now on the email almost everyday with another query on how to do it. So I know what you mean - it wasn't his fau;t he wasn't to know but....

Yes I meant to mention too Chris it is a darn sight easier to navigate around in 7 too it took me two days just the other day to figure out with Brink's help how to attach an attachment in 10
For me too another thing is you take one look at those app panels and you get gut sinking feeling eh??
