Cod 2 and 4 stopped working on Win 7

Hello
As i read on forums my problem is quite common. Cod 2 and Cod 4 when i start multiplayer it crashes and gives me cod 2 stopped working error. My sound card is
"High Definition Sound Device" i can't find stereo mix on my pc and i tried plugging a mic in pc and still the games crash. Single player works fine. I will be thankful for any suggestions how to fix this problem

Might try installing the last version of DX9 and see if that helps. I didn't reinstall COD 2 when I went to Win 7 but I do have Cod, UO, 4, and Waw installed and they run just fine without using compatibility mode.

If your on steam try the right click properties, local files,verify integrity of game cache..
