I do lots of art on my computer, so colors are rather important. I noticed the other day that colors appear to change slightly when unplugged. Here is the picture I noticed this on specifically:

Normally, it should be easy to see the smiley in the middle of the image. But when I unplugged my laptop (it's a thinkpad) the colors slowly faded to a bright yellow, making the smiley nearly invisible.

Anyone know how I can fix this? :)

All I can think of is you have got switchable graphics?so when you remove the power cord,it switches to the on board graphics, rather than the more powerful dedicated gpu.Does anything pop up on the screen asking if you want to swap?If not you need to go into your graphics settings, and just configure how you want them to work.

Depending on your graphics controller, you might try using a program like Catalyst, and set different monitor color profiles to associate with different power settings.

Usually your screen brightness will change when you unplug your laptop. Can you confirm if this is the cause?

No, it's definitely not the brightness - even if I have it set to equal brightness both times, the colors look different.

I don't know much about that kinda stuff, but I'll try it :P

Ah ha! I found something called "Vari-bright" in the Catalyst control panel... I un-checked it and now my screen looks fine. Thanks! :)

The same problem for me, just set True Color in bottom-right corner of OS to Disabled - Solved!
