Why are photos more saturated sharper when in Slideshow mode

Hello,

I do alot of photography work and edit many photos either through Lightroom or Photoshop and ive noticed that when I view my exported photos (JPG) with the native Windows Photo Slideshow app everything becomes more saturated and sharper than when viewing in non-slideshow mode. Ive done alot of searching and I cannot find a reason why this is happening. In some cases I actually like the way the photos look in slideshow mode versus non and Id like to apply whatever Windows (assuming the Windows is doing some kind of post-process effect on purpose) is doing to the actual photo edit in Lightroom. A similar effect happens when saving images from Firefox. Firefox images are slightly more saturated than when looking at them after saving to the hard drive.

I would preferably like to see no change when I enter slideshow mode but that might be a limitation with Windows 7, im not sure. I would like to know whats happening though.

I currently have a Dell U2410 Ultrasharp monitor with an Nvidia 670 graphics card.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
If referring to windows photo viewer I believe it just shows a larger preview pretty much like if you use the preview pane in windows explorer in your library...

Once you enter slide show or start a slide show you'll see the uncompressed image in of course full screen mode.

Monitors also often have weird color profiles that change the back ground of windows photo viewer to something other than white or off white to pink
Sometimes the color profile makes weird things of the image preview until full screen is on too.
