Solved Command prompt gone

If I rt-click the cmd prompt in the menu and "Run as admin," or try to run it from the "Run" box, I get just a double pixel flashing on and off. I can't type into the box. Ditto the Elevated Command box.

I used it without a problem about a month ago to run a .bat file. If I'm just missing a file, I can extract it from a recent backup image.

do you get the same symptoms when rt-clicking on any other exe program?


You can run sfc/scannow, and check the log files, to see if any files are missing from the system, but it might be that a Systems Restore can recover from the issue.

No problem with other .exe files. sfc/scannow shows the DOS box for a moment, then it disappears. I'll do a Sys Rest based on the date I ran PaulBlack's .bat file

This corrected itself before I used Sys Restore.
