I am hoping someone has had the same problem and been able to find away around it. But I have been trying to install some good old classic games onto my laptop, everytime i go to install certain ones it says -

"The Version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"

I have changed the compatibility, but it still wont allow me to do anything.

What can i do? I have given the system information of my laptop, and it the system requirements for one of the games, which i had installed on my old laptop which was running Windows Vista

Yes; there are going to be some games incompatible with 7, especially really old games. That's the nature of the OS upgrades, older software becomes obsolete. Anyway you've not said what game(s) you're having problems with so I can't point to specifics. However, you can always Google the game to see if it'll work with 7, or probably how to get it (them) to work, if possible.

And for the most part, it doesn't matter whether Windows is 32 or 64-bit, as Windows 64-bit is very capable of running 32-bit apps. However older games may not run under a 64-bit OS, especially if it uses a 16-bit installer as Windows 64-bit OS' don't support 16-bit apps - 64-bit versions of Windows do not support 16-bit components, 16-bit processes, or 16-bit applications

An example of a game with a 16-bit installer would probably be games around mid to late 90's to early 2000's. Give or take.
