Computer freezes and monitor becomes unresponsive

I have a Acer Aspire Am3802-u9062 and while playing games like SC2, World of Warcraft, and multiple other games, the computer makes the humming sound through the speakers which i assume means its frozen but the monitor becomes unresposive. I've tried dusting out the inside, taking off the side, turning the back facing the open part of the room, putting a fan by the side of it, so it doesnt seem like a heat problem. I have the recent video card update. I can also watch live-streams and HD videos on youtube with ease and no freezing. im baffled and can't figure it out. also have never had a BSOD.

OS - windows 7
(home premium 64 bit)

CPU - Intel core 2
(quad proccesor q8300)

Memory - 8 GB DDR2

HDD - 1 TB

ODD - DvD Super multi drive

VGA - NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 1024 MB

It only started happening recently, about 3 weeks ago. I've also ran programs like Advanced system care, Smart defrag 2, Fix cleaner, CCleaner, along with Full virus scans, and also read multiple forum posts from different websites but i cant find anything that will fix the problem.

What type of PSU do you have?

Did you make any changes before it started happening? i.e. new hardware, new software, driver updates?

To check for freezing/crashing you need to check Event viewer.

Type eventvwr in search and go to the windows log>application tab & system tabs.
Look for errors.
Errors have red in the left hand column.

Specifically look for errors that say app hang, or app crash, or anything related to the CURRENT problem.
When you find them either take a screenshot of them and upload them to us, or note the event ID and source codes and look them up in Google.

Im not sure what kind of PSU i have and i dont think i made any changes that i can remember, im running the stress test right now

only thing i can really find is
+3.3v and +5v rail not to exceed 130w

Is your computer a brand name I.e Dell, hp? If so, what is the model number
