Computer Freezes up shortly after startup, no BSOD.

Yesterday my computer started freezing up 30-60 seconds after I got to desktop.

There isn't time to run any sort of virus scans or try and uninstall anything, and it still freezes up even in safe mode.

A couple times it seemed to take longer, only to have programs become unresponsive until it BSOD, but the screen only lasts for a second, but most times it just freezes.

I had read that page . . . I can't do most of that because it locks up. It seems to lock up more quickly when programs are running, I was able to stay at the desktop for a couple minutes, but when I tried to run something it locked up. I managed to retrieve what I think is one of the dump files from one of the few BSODs. Any attempt to use the internet to use the internet generally causes a freeze.

Will the pc boot into safe mode?

It boots into safe mode, just like it will boot regularly, but it still freezes, it doesn't seem to make a difference.

try scanning your computer with WDO is a virus scanning program that runs outside of your operating system, the tutorial explains how to use it, see if it helps.

Well I'm running scans now, and so far it doesn't seem to have found anything, although the scan seems to get stuck as it goes, so it might not have found whatever it might be yet.

I have attempted to run it a few times, but it seems to get stuck in the middle of running the scan, just sits there without changing, doesn't actually lock up, the scan just seems to stop. It hasn't found anything definitively, but it hasn't really finished its scan either.

From the sounds of things I think your best option at this point is a Repair Install.
