Computer freezing help

I'm using the 327.23 driver now. And yes I have changed the setting. It will now create a mini dump file instead. Although, I have rolled back to 314.22 I think it's called.

Ok I will do, thanks a lot. Most BSODs I get point to drivers rather than hardware but no matter what driver version I use it still does it. Rolling back or updating the drivers don't help.

right, it just blue screened again. It pointed to hardware because it was 0x124 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR I'll upload the .dmp files anyway. Can windows be wrong about it being hardware or does this definitely mean it is hardware? Thanks.
I installed the 314.22 Nvidia driver when I last spoke to you and it was fine until now.

Memtest86 has been running for just over 5 hours now at 7 passes, no errors. Shall I continue over night until the morning? (It's 00:25 where I live now.)

It ran for over 10 hours at 14 passes with no errors so I'm positive it's not a memory issue.

I tried installing the new driver from What's New | GeForce I think it's 335.23 or something. My computer actually restarted itself when a game was running.

EDIT: I've ran IntelBurnIn test, I ran it 5 times on standard settings. It was successful so I'm sure it's not the CPU.

I find myself asking whether you understand (or even know) what you're installing.

Let's start from a baseline, and work from there....

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

CHKDSK C: /R

and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, press Enter, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry

At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.


Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your reply

DO NOT go off on a tangent and attempt any more 'fixes' without specific instructions from these forums, as it makes it impossible to either predict or analyse the results.

I have done a disk check multiple times and nothing err comes up but I will do another one to be sure. I will post the results pack as soon as both tasks have done.

I've even tried to use the auto detect on the GPU on What's New | GeForce

There's a mass of stuff in there that's not normal.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your reply.

ALSO
Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.
