Computer freezing multiple times a day with no recognisable pattern.

Well in safe mode you are only using the bare minimum of system files and to go into the usual boot means that something is amiss with the total system. I am now assuming the problem lies with a piece of the hardware as the crashes are now in Windows and Ubuntu.

We have done the power issue and the drive and I am wondering if the CPU may be at fault so could you run this please - if you can of course Prime95

I've been running the blend test on Prime95 for nearly 3 hours on safe mode without any problems.

I would also like to run it after a normal boot but if the computer crashes how can I know if it's Prime95 that crashed or it it is what normally happens. Will a cpu stress test crash the computer differently than just a simple freeze?

I have come up with a method to stop the freezing issue.

Completely remove video drivers in safe mode and then restart. This does solve the issue but if I restart again, Windows automatically loads new video drivers which leads to freezing.

This means that every time I turn on the computer I need to go into safe mode, remove video drivers and restart. It takes less than 5 minutes to do this and I only have to do it once a day so I don't mind.
