Hello,

I'm having a few issues with my computer at the moment.

My computer is randomly freezing, (mouse, keyboard, video playback), this is sometimes accompanied by sound distortion sometimes not. Sometimes it will restart, sometimes recover, sometimes remain frozen.

If I leave it, it will sometimes recover in 5 minutes but sometimes doesn't (and I restart after 15 min).

No errors show up if it recovers.

Errors which I've had randomly in the past couple of weeks include a Video driver error (checked, and my driver is upto date) and the computer restarting with some sort of USB error (USB drives are up to date).

If you have any ideas as to what the issue may be, I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Ok, while I was doing this, the computer froze again, and gave me the video error message (photo attached). I'm going to finish doing what you previously told me now.

Well, that is what I know.

First, try to install the latest beta.
http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/602-latest-nvidia-forceware-video-drivers-windows-7-a.html
[nvidia].[/nvidia] If not worked, measure the cards heat using speccy. Is it hot? Arrange some extra cooling.

Clean inside the computer too.

If all failed, you need to abandon this card. I did my earlier one, due to the same reason.

In most of the cases, it is the card's fault, hardware fault.

Thanks for the reply.

I cleaned inside the computer yesterday, took out the GPU and cleaned it as well, made sure all the connections were done well.

I installed the freshest NVIDIA drive yesterday, and still got the same display driver error this morning. My GPU temperature is 31C (from SpeedFan).

The error that comes up is:
"
Display driver stopped responding and has recovered
Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 306.97 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
"

How old the card is? Is it within warranty? If so, get it replaced.

Otherwise, either use onboard graphics or afford a new card.

It is the hardware issue in this case, the card itself is faulty. The funny fact is, it will fault at its own will, you cannot make it fail. Sometims it may work a couple of days without any problem, and sometimes it may fail thrice within an hour, right?

See this post.

The card is 6 months old, so within warranty. I am calling them now, to sort out a replacement.

Thanks for the help.

You are welcome.
I am sure that the same problem will not be there with the new card.

In between, you use the onboard graphics.

I returned the GPU to the seller, who confirmed that it was faulty. I received a refund as it was under warranty.
