Dell XPS 9100 with Windows 7 pro X64. Dell support is no help, they just keep saying it is a software issue because their boot diagnostic doesnt show any problems. It quite often makes me do a system restore before i can get back into windows after it happens. Event log says Critical type, Kernel Error. System is less then 6 months old. I have had this problem for 3 of those months for a total of about 8 times.

Hello rcolemere. Welcome to Seven Forums. You say you have been having these issues for 6 months, there are only three .dmp files uploaded. I don't see any registry cleaners or Automated repair tools, but if you are using them, please stop.

Two of the three .dmps referenced Avast! Please remove it. It is a known source of problems, as you can see. You also have SpybotSD installed. Please remove it as well.

Most of us here suggest and use Microsoft Security Essentials(MSE). It is extremely effective and has a very small footprint. As a Windows customer, you may download it for free, here. Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
After downloading and running the installer, please ensure that it is up to date. Then, select to run a full scan on all drives.

Also, please download and install, Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer Be sure to download the free version. Upon installation, be sure not to start the free trial. Malwarebytes is a powerful malware detection tool. After you have installed and updated Malwarebytes, run a FULL scan on ALL USER accounts. This means that if you have more than one login for your computer, you will need to run the scan on each account.

After doing these things, post back the results.

There was also a BCCode x124. Let's take care of Avast! first and then if the problem persists we can test further.

Thanks,

James

I have removed AVAST and SPYBOT and am running windows defender and malwarebytes. My computer has locked up 2 times since, once during the Full Scan for Defender and once playing Diablo III. I will run a full scan again tonight but my computer seems to lock up before it can complete one, maybe has something to do with idle time, I dont know. I have attached the new file. Thank you for your help so far.

So far it is working good. But before it was also locking up during games sometimes. I did notice a PCI something error in one of the logs, does that have anything to do with it? You also mentioned another error earlier. I have only been using it a couple of hours today so far.

Yes, you had a BCCode x124. We would need more than the single x124 to go on. Run the system as you would when it was crashing and presenting with a BSOD. After it happens again, upload the report again.

Had another BSOD and have had several lock ups in the last couple of days. Here are the reports. Nothing new was installed lately either.

Software Concerns:
You have a number of unnecessary programs running on your system. I would recommend that you http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html and leave only Microsoft Security Client enabled in the startup items. Disable all non-Microsoft services upon startup.

Analysis:
You had a second 0x124 BugCheck.

BugCheck 0x124

If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. :warn:WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.

  • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

  • If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

  • Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.
  • Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.

  • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
    1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
    2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
    3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
    4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Remember to read closely through http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html for the crash.
