I have had this problem for the last year.

I get these blackscreens that lasts for a few seconds, sometimes 3-4, sometimes <1.
They don't seem to be triggered by anything special, as it happens both when inside games and outside games. When the blackscreen is over i get this message "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version xxx.xx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
Sometimes the hud gets messed up ingame and i have to restart it again.

Its different when i play Counter Strike though. The game just freezes and i have to tab out and in again and it will work.
Very rarely (like a few times a year) the computer will just freeze and i have to choke-reboot it.

I'm not sure exactly when it started, but around that time i got a new motherboard and CPU.
The parts in the computer that are quite old are one of the HDDs, 2/4 RAM-sticks and the PSU.

I have attached the SF files to the post.

Help appreciated :)

EDIT: I did format the local disk before reinstalling as well.

You say 2/4 Ram-sticks are old. Are all four the same brand and speed?

Yes, allthough it is 2x 2Gb and 1x4Gb, so pretty much 2/3 are old. But they are the same speed afaik, i have done memory tests and there have been no problems with them.

I don't know why your looking at your ram. From your description of the issue it seems to be clearly related to your graphics drivers or worst case a failing card. First thing i would do is open your case and make sure the card is fully seated in the port and and wires attached to it are firmly in place. pull the card out. give the port a good old fashioned Nintendo blow, and put everything back in firmly. Check your divers and make sure they're all up to date. If your using catalyst control center, try the Omega drivers instead. Those seem to have better compatibility with older hardware. Good luck man.

Either update to the latest video driver OR, if you already have it, work your way back the older Nvidia drivers, finding one that doesn't crash.

I recommend using something like Driver Sweeper to remove the Nvidia drivers before installing new ones.

When you activated your new install of Windows, was there any problem? Did you have to make a ROBO call to Microsoft or did it activate when you typed in the Product Key?

I have done that, did not fix the problem. I have also had the problem for over a year and installed every new update on the graphics card, but none of them has fixed the problem.

The installation is counterfeit - an OEM_SLP Key on a retail board, with an Activation Exploit circumventing Activation and Validation requirements.
You need to reformat and reinstall using genuine media and Key.
