Hello,

Just signed up and hopefully with your assistance we could try and get my computer back to its best.

A short while ago (2 weeks?) my computer has randomly started freezing.
I haven't changed any hardware or installed any software of note (minus a game or 2) other than any Windows updates that have come through.
The freezes appear to happen at random and with no steps I can do to replicate the issue, other than just using my computer until it decides to happen. I've had it happen whilst just browsing the internet and I've had it happen whilst playing games.
I presume the issue to be software based as I've left my computer on overnight whilst it was doing a backup and I didn't find a frozen computer in the morning, but this doesn't alone count out hardware issues of course.

What would be a good starting point of information to provide?

Kronin.

If you have a good idea when the issue started I would look for ways to put your system back in the state just before. For example, using a Restore Point or uninstalling the Updates since the 2 weeks.

If the freezes go away then it's likely one of the updates. If not then it may not be related. If you have a restore point older than 2 weeks that's probably the quickest thing you can try.

Also it's a good idea if you don't already do system image backups, to get set up. Often when tracking down an issue and trying solutions you can end up in a state worse than the original problem if you have no way to get back to square one. Maybe an external drive and a free image program like Macrium Reflect or similar.
