Computer refuses to boot, and I don't have Windows 7 disk

About two years ago, I won my Lenovo laptop through my school, thanks to Google. The thing is, they never sent me a Windows 7 installation disk. It came to me with Windows already installed on it. I don't have a product key, but I have my laptop's serial number. And my computer has been going haywire on me. No way to repair install, as it seems. Anything I can do about this issue? (Hopefully besides buying a whole new laptop)

I really don't want to resort to downloading a different OS, but it seems that's what it's coming to....

What are the problems?

   Information
Boot up using the Startup Repair CD or Windows 7 DVD. (not the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk) If you have a Netbook, you will need a CD/DVD drive.
NOTE: Make sure no USB drives are plugged in.
Do not use a USB Pendrive for Startup Repair.

Do a Strartup Repair:

Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.

   Information
We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

I have Windows 7 Home Premium.

And the problem is, I got a virus a while back and tried removing it myself, since it got embedded into my registry. Stupid idea, because I may have deleted something important from my registry. Because now it won't boot past the Windows icon, and when it gets there, it just reboots and does it over again, asking me beforehand if I want to do a startup repair to try to find the problem. I've tried it many times, but it won't work. =/

And no...unfortunately I did not make the OEM Recovery Disk...

Look for a COA sticker on the bottom of the laptop, sometimes you may have to remove the battery to see it. If you can find that, you can use the product code listed on it to reinstall windows.

Lenovo has a recovery partition on the hard drive. You should be able to start it a boot time and restore the computer to it's factory new state.

What is the complete model number of the Lenovo laptop?

It would be a good idea to order the recovery discs anyway, for when the hard drive fails.

If it is an oem preinstall - the product key off the hd is not likely to be any use. You need the activation cert as well.

The product key somewhere on the machine case - battery compartment is a good place to look as has been suggested - is different. That will be good for a reinstall.
