Hello,

I have a hp laptop dv7-6c95dx that has an Intel core I7 processor. This laptop is from about 2011. I was using Windows 7 home premium for a special application when the screen suddenly went blank and the computer shut down. I was able to get it to boot to the boot menu, but I cannot get it to go further than that. The error it shows is:

GRUB Loading stage2...

MK7i FPGA not found!

MK7i FPGA not found!

Smartcard init failed

Boot verification failed! HAULTING.

i have tested the system memory atnd the hard drive, and there are no errors there. I tried to use Rufus to load a thumb drive with an ISO of windows 7 home premium, which was on it when it crashed. I am obviousally doing something very wrong, as I can't go any further. I have very limited knowledge of computers and desperately need help on getting windows 7 back up and running. Is there anything you can help me with here? I'm in way over my head.

I finally got the proper .ISO file, and mase a bookable USB drive. This loaded a new copy of windows 7. In the install I had tobformat the disk drive in all of the Partitions to load the system onto the guard drive. Noe I'm chasing down all of the old drivers to make things like the wireless adapter work. It's getting closer to being usable!
