Help please.

My computer is running extremely slow. I have carried out a full computer scan in Safe Mode using Super Anti Spy, AVG and MalwareBytes, all of which have not found any infections.

When I try to open Google I get no response but MSN opens OK. MalwareBytes springs into action, please see accompanying screen shots..

This morning I received a reply from who I though was EBAY in response to my request for information, I was asked to send an email to an address which was a mixture of letters and figures mentioning Breadcrumbs etc and ever since then my machine has been acting strangely, which was why I carried out the scans.

I anyone can help me I will be very much appreciative. If I am in the wrong forum, please tell me so I can shift to the correct one:eek:

Regards

From the screenshot, I noticed Adobe Reader9. Like most software, they ought to be updated to patch security holes when found. If this older version is still running, what other unpatched software do you still have running?

Your security scans may find a few culprits, but your PC may still be vulnerable during the process.

Piriform's CCleaner is a useful software. Under the Tools section is the startup tab with five separate lists. These lists can be saved and uploaded.

These startups can be disabled from auto-startup. It may identify outdated programs to be updated or uninstalled. That would remove unnecessary burden on the PC.

Computer Running Slow

Hi Gigagiggles and indianacarnie,

Thanks for your advice. My Adobe Reader9 is up to date and after all that bother I am pleased to say so is my computer.:D

I did three scans in "Safe Mode" all to no avail so in desperation I did a systems restore back to 13 Feb and still it wouldn't work. I undid the restore and bought the computer back to 22 Feb and was told that some of my files had not been restored etc, etc.

When I tried to use it, it worked perfectly and at full speed. So I don't know what all that was about...

I am now in the process of doing a MalwareBytes RootKit scan to see what that brings up, but all is well now thank you very much.

Once I have completed the MalwareBytes Root Kit scan, I will install Windows Defender.

Thank you both for your help, much appreciated,

Cheers,
