Hi there

I got a Toshiba Satellite L505
Intel Core Duo 2.10GHz processor
Ram 4GB
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I noticed that lately it's running slower. I have tried to fix it with registry errors cleaners, RamBooster (which I sincerely don't understand how to use it), I've done multiple disk cleanups, defragmented it, etc. but none seems to help. I think it's the RAM but I'm not sure since I don't understand how this physical memory and CPU works. I checked the performance in the task manager and says I got a CPU usage 1-9% and physical memory about 34%.

I don't know if this data is helpful but I will post it anyway so you can get a better picture of how my system is working.

In the task manager, perfomance tab
Physical Memory (MB)
Total 3963
Cached 2325
Available 2601
Free 339

Kernel Memory (MB)
Paged 196
Nonpaged 61

System
Handles 20451
Threads 841
Processes 77
Commit MB 1626/7926

Is that how it should be? if not what can I do to fix it.
Also yesterday I was looking through the startup processes I noticed a strange one, it was named Woogoc and in the description said it was some kind of roaming app but I'm very suspicious and I think it may be a worm of some kind. I try to google it to get more info about it but no results.

Please help me!!

Hey linnemeyerhere thanks for the quick response. Well to be more specific the computer starts just fine I log in and everything seems to be normal but when I'm about to perform any task it's when I got a little trouble. By example, when I try to click on a program to open it it seems like I'm doing nothing, I have to click several times to get to open it. Another example is sometimes when I put the pointer of the mouse over the close, maximize and minimize buttons it suppose to "highlight" or bright up the button but doesn't do that and when I try to close it nothing happens, I have to keep clicking until it close or the program become unresponsive. Also when I click on something it's like if the click got stuck or something because when I try to move it what it does is that drag everything. I noticed too that when I got photoshop open for a long time it starts to give me problems too, even though I close it afterwards the computer just remain the same.

I hope all this can be helpful.

Sounds like Malware or a Virus has stolen control. I could be wrong but I would restart the computer in safe mode and run all the updated Antivirus I could at the system and see what comes up?

I did what yowanvista said. I ran a scan of Malwarebytes and it came up I had 2 infections. I removed them with the Malwarebytes software and then I restarted my computer but the problem persists. I actually removed the utilities I was using.

Hey gregrocker

I was reading through your Win7 Troubleshooting Fundamentals and you mentioned Avast Antivirus. I currently use AVG. Do you think Avast is more efficient? Is it wise for me to get rid of AVG and get Avast?

By the way I did a full scan of my computer with Malwarebytes and show me 2 more infections. One of them it's named Rootkit.Dropper which I don't know what the heck that does, the other it's a crack I downloaded for PS4 (sshhh lol) which I got for a long time and hasn't given me any problem.

I would post up those infections in Security forum so one of the specialists there can give you the exact cleaning regimen for that rootkit.

AVG bloated up a few years back and never slimmed back down to where it doesn't interfere at all with performance like MSE or Avast. So I don't know any experts who recommend it.

In your case, what I would do now is uninstall AVG and install MSE or Avast, update then run a full Safe Mode scan while you wait for the steps to deal with that rootkit.

I solved the problem thanks to you guys. It seems that the infections I found with Malwarebytes was causing the problem. I remove them all and installed Avast Antivirus. Now my computer is back to normal :)
