Computer Running So SlOOOOOOOW

I have Windows 7 64 bit. It was running very slow so via msconfig I disabled the background programs. Then it ran quite quickly for a few weeks. Now the speed is back to where it was. The background programs are still disabled.

The CPU is often at 100% and the programs I open are often "not responding".

HELP!

Sounds like you could be infected by spyware, malware, and or other malicious programs. Go here and download super anti spyware to scan for spyware:

go here and download Adware cleaner:

Also go here and download and run Malware bytes:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

download those 3 and install and let them scan and clean any bad stuff

Also; try defragmenting the hard drive: click start, programs, accessories, system tools, then disk defragmenter and let that run to defrag the hard disk. Try these things and see if they help to resolve the issue and report back.

Almost forgot: you might also want to consider adding more ram if your ram capacity is not maxed out already as that will help a bit as well.

Thanks for your input Matt. I will do these things.

I've run IOBit Pro 7 and a deep scan with Panda. Still runs slow and often freezes.

If memory is an issue, what did the computer speed up as I mentioned?
