Computer shuts down after a few minutes of gaming.

Hey guys.
I recently installed windows 7 beta on my laptop, everything was great until I loaded a game (heroes of might and magic 5). At first, it was running smooth, after about 5-10 minutes the computer shut down. Since my laptop overheats quite easily, I checked the temperature of the CPU, but it wasn't hot at all. Then I tried a newer version (build 7032), same thing happens for every game.
Does anyone know the reason for this? Is there a possible fix? Thanks.

What is your laptop specs like cpu, graphics etc.

Yep, it shuts down because it overheats during the game. Habitually, laptops aren't made to play on it and they overheat easily because of their compact size and lack of ventilation. Also, dust does not help in keeping any computer at a good temp.

That's what I thought too, but the machine isn't even hot after it shuts down. When this happens in XP, it literally burns my hands.

I had the same problem with my laptop while using window 7 version 7034. It continuously shutdown every 5 minutes .I assumed it was happened due to heat problem from while I operate the laptop on my bed. Its not happened on my flat desk. As you know the fan of the laptop facing down to the below surface, my bed obstruct the ventilation and heat up the heat sink laptop processor leads to emergency shutdown.I make a space between my bed & computer..walla!!! its operate as normal. By additional USB fan made in china available in the computer shop

It's already sitting on one of those...
Either way, I'll try cleaning the fan at some point, install the RC1 and see if the problem still exists. Thanks for the replies.
