Does the computer complete its power on self test (POST) routine?

If not I'd immediately suspect the power supply.

What you can do is disconnect all peripherals and internal hardware such as graphics, sound and TV cards, and then try to boot your computer.

If it doesn't boot, you've at least narrowed it down to your power supply, RAM, CPU or motherboard.

a first thing i think of is overheating.

make sure all fans are working, and the PC is clean from dirt build up preventing adequate airflow...

if you can get into bios, check the temps there...

Good morning seavixen32, It did not do the POST test, so I did the paper clip test and it showed that the power supply failed. I hope that is the problem. I sent it to Crucial for replacement. I will let you and DavidW7ncus, DustSailor and Erikbe know the results. Thank you all for your replies. stubs2.

To seavixen32, You nailed it, it was a faulty power supply which was about 2.5 yrs. old. Crucial replaced it in a very timely fashion, no charge. Thanks again to all those that posted. Windows 7 is such a valuable resource to those of us that are not that computer savvy.
