Computer shutting down by itself

Yesterday I have upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. Everything works fine apart from the fact that the computer randomly shuts itself down. My laptop used to have heating problems before but no so often... like 5 hours after installing Windows 7 yesterday, my laptop had shut itself down 3 times already.
What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it?
Also, forgive me as I am new on the forums and I'm not sure if this is the right section for this thread.
Thanks a lot for your help

Check event viewer for any entries at the time the shutdowns occured also check scheduled tasks, also you could try installing some temperature monitoring software to keep an eye on the internals - something like speccy or cpu-z

I have downloaded Speccy and it says the average temp is between 55-60°C, so I think it's mainly an overheating problem

HP Laptop Pavillion G series Start up/ Shut down Loop

Hi all i have a HP pavillion G7 1150us that is stuck in a Restart/Shutdown Loop,I did a complete Factory Recovery from F8 " Repair my Computer " option. To no avail, NOTE: the machines battery is dead and needs to be replaced so she's running on the AC charger. The machine stays on only in SAFE mode by it self..if i add networking about a minute into my Desktop..Shuts down & restarts..thus giving me no way to download any programs that might assist me or update anything that might be missing,,Drivers etc..Any suggestions?

Is this posted in the proper thread, as i did not get any reply??
