I need some help and I thought this was a forum where I could talk to someone who may be knowledgeable about how to fix this problem. My computer runs super slow on start-up ( 2 min. 58 sec) and then takes FOREVER to load any start-up programs (about 15-20 min.) then my computer wants to do like 5,000 updates EVERYTIME it starts up and these updates run super slow and then the restart...more updates....about 1 hr. 30 min. later I can finally start using my computer. Anyone can help me with this?

Also, I tried uninstalling some programs but my programs list doesn't show half the programs that are actually on my computer. ...wtf?

I've included a snapshot:

And what the heck is with all the Redistributables???

Please help!

Try to isolate the issue. Have you tried turning off updates to see if that improves your load time?

CCleaner is a good free program that can both dump bloat and allow you to toggle which programs load at startup.

The updates need to happen. The problem is that it takes so long. Why is it running so slow? Also, where's all the programs on
Install/Uninstall Programs list?

If nobody here can give you an easy solution, here is what i would do if i had this problem:

Run a System File Check.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
If there are any errors, get those fixed.

Boot up in Safe Mode and see how that works.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

If Safe Mode boots up in "normal time", do a Clean Startup.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Try and find the culprit program(s) causing the long startup time.

Scan for malware and viruses.

"Restore" the OS from before the problem started.
I have System Backup Images, maybe you only have Restore Points ?

If none of the above works, consider doing a Repair Install.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

If a Repair Install doesn't help, do a clean install.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html

I know there's a whole lot there to consider and read through, but that's what i would do.

You can disable updates to see if that corrects the issue. Don't worry, no sane person here in the forums will let you run without updates enabled :) It is a diagnostic step.

Also Visual C++ Redist are normal.

What OS is that ? You got some really old updates there.

5,000 updates ? I know you`re exaggerating but, you should be getting no more the 1 or 2 a day unless it`s Tuesday, where you might get 5 or 6.

3 Office suites ? What`s up with that ?

I would backup your data and just re install windows, takes 15 minutes.

No sense battling with a machine you can`t even use :)
