computer won't start help

So the green light which doesn't light up any more is the one next to the fan where the power supply sits in the back of the case? Do you have a case fan which isn't running? Can you see inside to see if any lights are on at all?

If you are confident enough to open case, unplug cord and open it enough to look at Power Supply to see what the wattage is. Don't touch any electronics.

Then do a search for a replacement power supply using the name and wattage of PSU.

Once you know for sure it is the power supply, you can post in Hardware forum asking for advice on replacement - whether to go for more wattage for that rig, etc. Put the model in Title so others who know it will chip in.

I cannot find specs for Packard Bell x8870. Get the correct model number and google it + power supply first and then again + specs.

That should be 110-120v ... your power supply is toast ... you will have to replace it..

That is the voltage set to run your computer - you have 220v there?

You're wanting to spec the wattage of your PSU to decide whether to replace it with identical model or up the voltage some. You need the model number and watts either by finding the specifications for your computer model online or looking more closely at the PSU until you find it.

Or you can take it to a shop if you're not confident you can replace it yourself. Ask them the benefits of increasing the power, as some machines are underpowered and this can cause PSU loss.

If you are confident enough to do it yourself, these questions can be asked here or in the Hardware forum once you have the specs for your current PSU, and good advice can be given for what to replace it with.

thanks i took it to a friend to fix it he runs a business and he has to get it off ebay coz he does not
have psu with that power so it will cost me 180 euro to replace it i hope since it costs that much it will be long life

A power supply that isn't working very hard lasts longer and produces less heat than one that is running close to its capacity, plus you'll have power to spare for expansion (better graphics card, extra hard drives, sound card, etc)
180 euro is a ridiculously high price for a power supply by the way. You should be able to get one for about 1/3 to 1/2 that price.

apparent the reason why it costs that much is that the people have to get a psu that will fit my computer and that it would normally cost 60 but since of the graphic card is so powerful that is why it is 180

With the hardware in your specs, a 600 watt PSU should be more than enough, and you can get a good one that's SLI ready for less than $60 american.. probably a bit more at your location but not more than $100 at the most. So what they're probably asking for is half the price in labor costs to install it. It's really not too hard to install a power supply, even if you've never been inside a computer case before. Just make sure you attach a matching connector from the new power supply to each component you detach it from the old one

yes but it might not fight my computer

Any power supply designed for an ATX case will physically fit in your computer. It's a matter of selecting a one with enough power and the right set of connectors, which is why I would recommend one that is SLI ready

it is already bought but it is acually 160 i mean to buy off ebay would you say it would be good for that price

i did it but still no luck now the led green light is not even flashing it is now not on anymore any other suggestions

Ordinary test you could do yourself in future before taking to shop

1 Summer heat = card/chip expansion creep out of socket.

2 overheating/fan fail cpu/graphics

3 Summer lightning strike/brown outs - strike can be miles away and travel down lines. Without being plugged into a proper surge protected power point, components can get zapped without warning! ;)

Before you pull components out one by one, try pushing all the leads you can see inside pc back into their sockets (includes electric)
push graphic card/other cards/memory down into sockets too.
