I have been asked by a friend to help him on a job he has tomorrow. The job is to relocate 6 workstations and re-run all the cabling. His client also wants to have a few computers upgraded to Windows 7 Pro from Vista. I'm pretty sure the ones needing the upgrade are identical, or very close to identical. Being that I am fairly lazy and time is a factor, I'd like to do a fresh install on one PC, and configure it with updates, drivers, etc.....clone that drive and roll it out to the others. I know that several people on here probably do this on a semi-regular basis, and was wondering what software, preferably free software, works the best for this situation.

Thanks in advance.

Use the WINPE ISO (burn to DVD) to restore. Boot from DVD.
Or make the primary partition on the usb disk active, and boot form usb.

Now make new system bootable (in case it cannot boot because of different hardware): https://www.dropbox.com/home/Paragon%20Adaptive%20Restore
ISO and manual are there. Process is quite straight forward.
