Help - Sharing C Drive to other PC's

I have a problem that has to be something simple but I can't figure
it out so I'm here to get some guru help!

PC
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

Wired to router
Network set to HOME
Workgroup set to WORKGROUP

Sharing Options set
- Discovery ON
- File sharing ON
- Public folders ON
- Password protection OFF

I shared the following: (made sure EVERYONE was present with permissions)

C:\ -> c
D:\ -> d
E:\ -> e


Laptop
Windows 7 x64 Home Edition

Wireless to router (N)
Network set to HOME
Workgroup set to WORKGROUP

Sharing Options set
- Discovery ON
- File sharing ON
- Public folders ON
- Password protection OFF

I shared the following: (made sure EVERYONE was present with permissions)

C:\ -> c


The problem is this:

FROM LAPTOP -> PC

I can copy, execute, view D and E perfectly as it should be.
I can NOT view subfolders on C, I can see the root directories but not enter anything
and get a access permission denied check with administrator.

FROM PC -> LAPTOP

I can copy, execeute, view everything and all folders, directories on the laptops
c drive as it should be.


Why am I getting the permission error when on the LAPTOP -> PC c drive BUT NOT on d or e?

Try going into the Security tab of the drive and allow for permissions there also. To share an entire drive you need to allow for it using the regular permissions and also the Security settings need to be set to share the drive.

To share the entire drive:
Open My Computer -> right click Local Disk D or which ever drive letter your drive is using -> select Properties -> select Security tab -> click Edit button -> click Add button -> enter the name of the User you want to set Security permissions (it is the same user name you've set the sharing permissions for, ex. Everyone will set the read permissions to every user. Put check marks in the boxes for full access and control -> click OK hit apply-> select the desired permissions -> click OK -> wait while permissions are set -> and your Done.
